On February 8, 1977 Indianapolis was shocked by a live news event.  Tony Kiritsis was walking his hostage Dick Hall down Pennsylvania Street wired to a sawed-off shotgun! The Irvington Historical Society welcomes an exhibit by the Warren Central High School Photographer’s Club.  This is the first time this exhibit has been held outside of the school.  The club members must own their camera and use their creativity to capture photographic image. An opening reception will be Friday, March 3rd from 6 to 9 at the Bona.  Come meet these talented photographers and enjoy their images.

Irvington Summer Music Series – Celtic Music Concert

The concert will highlight the contributions to Indiana music by the Irish and Scottish, especially on the east side of Indianapolis. Performers include: Hogeye Navvy singing sea chanteys, railroading or canal songs, and other songs reflecting how the early ones from Ireland and Scotland came to the U.S. and the work they did to help build this country; Jim and Kate Smith, Indiana farmers who play very traditional Irish tunes on Irish flute, Uillean pipes, and fiddle; Irish step dancers…

The Irvington Historical Society is pleased to present Fredrick Polley (1875-1957) A Prolific Indianapolis Artist’s Retrospective an expansive collection of Polley’s work filling our main galleries.  Frederick Polley was an Irvington artist, teacher at John Herron and Arsenal Technical High School (1917-1941) and illustrator/columnist for regional newspapers, including the Indianapolis Sunday Star (1924-1947).  This exhibit will cover the body of his work.  It will open May 10 and run through July 30, 2017,  A presentation by avid collector and the exhibit’s curator, Rich Costello, will…

The second program of the new Irvington Summer Music Series features singing bowls artist, Ron Esposito and his group with an eclectic performance of World and New Age influenced music.  The sound of the singing bowls is like clouds moving and morphing across an empty blue sky.
